Personal- and season-bests for indoor track and field teams recorded at Steemer Showcase, Downey competes in heptathlon at SVSU
OLIVET, Mich. – Many personal- and season-best performances were achieved for the Olivet College men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams today at the Steemer Showcase, hosted by Wittenberg (Ohio) University in Springfield, Ohio. In addition, senior John C Downey competed in the heptathlon at the Saginaw Valley State University “Jet’s Pizza” Invitational.

OLIVET, Mich. – Many personal- and season-best performances were achieved for the Olivet College men's and women's indoor track and field teams today at the Steemer Showcase, hosted by Wittenberg (Ohio) University in Springfield, Ohio. In addition, senior John C Downey competed in the heptathlon at the Saginaw Valley State University "Jet's Pizza" Invitational.
- Senior Jordon Brown placed second in the 400-meter dash (48.41) and seventh in the 200-meter dash (22.39). The times are not school records due to the track at Wittenberg being oversized.
- Junior Hayden Germain ran a personal-best time of 1:54.02 in the 800-meter run.
- In the 3000-meter run, junior Hunter Hillard and senior Chase Mendham clocked-in with personal-best times of 8:57.82 and 8:58.62, respectively.
- Junior Zach Liddle had a personal-best mark of 30 feet, 2.25 inches in the weight throw.
- Posting season-best performances were:
- Liddle in the shot put (34 feet, 1.25 inches)
- Freshman Anthony DeVito in the mile run (4:51.72)
- Freshman Kobe Hogue in the shot put (33 feet, 7.25 inches)
- Freshman Jonathan Holloway in the 200-meter dash (24.32)
- To qualify for a season-best mark, the student-athlete must have competed in the event in at least one other meet this season.
- Downey scored 3,389 total points over the seven events in the heptathlon. He is believed to be the first men's track and field student-athlete in school history to complete a multi-event.
- Of the seven events, Downey posted personal-best marks in four. His times/marks were
- 60-meter dash – 7.81 seconds (616 points)
- Long jump – 18 feet, 5.25 inches (506 points)
- Shot put – 34 feet, 4 inches (513 points)
- High jump – 5 feet, 1 inch (426 points)
- 60-meter hurdles – 9.58 seconds (623 points)
- Pole vault – 8 feet, 4.25 inches (253 points)
- 1,000-meter run – 3:23.61 (452 points)
- Sophomore Emily Norkowski finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.82). During the preliminaries, she ran a season-best time of 9.70 seconds.
- Sophomore Berniah Alexander posted personal bests in the shot put (34 feet, 4.75 inches) and weight throw (36 feet, 5 inches).
- Other personal-best performances were:
- Norkowski in the 60-meter dash (8.48)
- Sophomore Abbey Peters in the mile run (5:38.77)
- Junior Allyson Stevens in the 400-meter dash (1:06.68)
- Junior Tonya Tepin in the 800-meter run (2:36.24)
- Season-best performances were:
- Junior Alex DeVault in the 400-meter dash (1:12.45)
- Sophomore London Eldridge in the 60-meter hurdles (10.13)
- Freshman Michaela Nichols in the 200-meter dash (31.98)
- Sophomore Lily Rozeveld in the 60-meter dash (10.03)
- 4x400-meter relay (Eldridge, freshman Sarah Grove, Stevens, Tepin) in 4:29.17
