Indoor track & field teams compete at Defiance Invitational
The Olivet College men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams competed today at the Defiance (Ohio) College Invitational. The Comets broke two more school records.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Olivet College men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed today at the Defiance (Ohio) College Invitational. The Comets broke two more school records.
- Junior Noah Bailey took first-place in the triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, 2-1/2 inches.
- Sophomore Jacob Smith achieved a school-record mark of 51 feet, 3 inches in the shot put. The performance placed him second of 32 throwers in the event.
- The distance medley relay team of Kyle Markley, Aaron Wilson, Brandon Bell and Jaden Costa finished first with a time of 11:44.32.
- Markley placed fourth in the mile run (4:50.47).
- Senior Michaela Kaliniak won and broke the school record in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 10 feet, 11-3/4 inches.
- Freshman Lillian Albaugh finished second in the shot put (41 feet, 8-1/2 inches).
- Sophomore Ariel Floyd placed fifth in the shot put (36 feet, 9-3/4 inches) and sixth in the weight throw (45 feet, 3-1/2 inches).
- The distance medley quartet of Laura Tuttle, Sarah Feldpausch, Samantha Torres and Jessica Taylor was first with a time of 15:09.26.
- Kaliniak's winning pole vault mark currently ranks No. 1 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).
- Smith's performance in the shot put is No. 1 in the MIAA and 18th on the NCAA DIII Indoor Performance list.
- Olivet travels to Hillsdale for the Hillsdale College Wide Track Classic next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2.
