FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College junior Noah Bailey has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Bailey broke the school record with a mark of 47 feet and 2-1/4 inches in the triple jump at the season-opening Jack Skoog Open, hosted by Central Michigan University. The performance ranks first among eight MIAA student-athletes this winter, and third on the NCAA DIII performance list. Bailey also leaped 21 feet and 2-1/2 inches in the long jump, which is tied for second in the MIAA.
"It is exciting to see Noah start the season with a personal best mark in the triple jump," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "He works hard, is coachable and is always having fun while competing which all translates to success in track and field."
Olivet is back in action Friday night at the Saginaw Valley State University "Doug Hansen" Open. Field events get under way at 2:30 p.m., followed by running events at 4 p.m.
