FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College senior Bruce Baker has been tabbed the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
At the Rhodes (Tenn.) College Invitational, Baker ran the 5,000-meter run in 15:30.03, which is the fastest by an MIAA athlete this spring. He also placed 12th in the mile run with a time of 4:28.83. The converted time of 4:08.91 for 1,500 meters ranks second in the MIAA.
"Bruce loves to compete and it showed this weekend at Rhodes as he raced well in both the mile and 5K," said Olivet head track and field coach Karen Lutzke. " As his career at Olivet College winds down this spring, we are looking for him to do what he does best and that is to focus on racing."
Olivet returns to the track Thursday, March 29, at the Indiana Wesleyan University Easter Twilight Meet.
