Track and field teams place fourth at Trine Keith Turner Alumni Invitational
The Olivet College men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams finished in fourth-place at the Trine University Keith Turner Alumni Invitational today inside the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center in Angola, Indiana.

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Olivet College men's and women's indoor track & field teams finished in fourth-place at the Trine University Keith Turner Alumni Invitational today inside the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center in Angola, Indiana.
FOR THE MEN
- The Comets totaled 69 points, which was just five points behind third-place Adrian College.
- The distance medley relay quartet of junior Mark Smith, freshman Robert Barnett, freshman Dewan Hawthorne and senior Bruce Baker took first-place with a time of 11:04.58.
- Baker took first-place in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:42.96.
- Freshman John Adams III broke the school record in the 60-meter dash with a second-place time of 7.08 seconds.
- Sophomore Noah Bailey placed third in the 300-meter dash in 36.76 seconds. He also finished third in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet and 2-3/4 inches.
- Freshman Jacob Smith took third in the shot put with a school-record throw of 45 feet and 7 inches.
- The 4x400-meter relay team of Hawthorne, Bailey, Barnett and Jordan Robinson capped the running events with a second-place performance at 3:34.02.
FOR THE WOMEN
- Olivet had 62 total points.
- Senior Nicole Zerfas won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:23.31. Senior Abigail Gaines was not far behind in third-place with a time of 3:33.30.
- Junior Michaela Kaliniak scored first-place points in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 10 feet.
- Freshman Ariel Floyd had the second-best mark in the shot put at 36 feet and 2 inches.
UP NEXT
- Olivet next competes at the Defiance (Ohio) College Invitational Saturday, Jan. 27. Events are scheduled to get under way at 11 a.m.
