Men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams place sixth and seventh at MIAA Championships
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track & field teams placed sixth and seventh at the 2017 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships inside the Huizenga Center in Grand Rapids. Senior Connor Bauserman won the conference title in the 800-meter run in a MIAA record time of 1:55.19.

Bauserman wins 800 in MIAA record time
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's track & field teams placed sixth and seventh at the 2017 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships inside the Huizenga Center in Grand Rapids.
FOR THE MEN
- Senior Connor Bauserman successfully defended his conference title in the 800-meter run. He completed the race in a MIAA record time of 1:55.19.
- Junior Bruce Baker clocked-in at 4:30.32 in the mile run to place seventh. He also had the eighth-fastest time, 9:04.53 in the 3,000-meter run.
- Freshman Jaylin Alexander scored eighth-place points in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.40 seconds.
- The distance medley team of Blake Wilson, Nicholas Yeck, Mark Smith and Brad Thomas finished sixth in 11:24.49.
- The 4x400-medley relay quartet of Bauserman, Wilson, Baker and Miquel Marin placed seventh in 3:41.27.
- In the field events, junior Mitchell Smith was fourth in the weight throw (50 feet, 1-3/4 inches) and fifth in the shot put (43 feet, 10 inches).
- Freshman Noah Bailey finished sixth in the long jump at 21 feet, 2 inches, and eighth in the triple jump at 39 feet, 10-1/2 inches.
- Sophomore Kory Slaby was seventh in the weight throw (44 feet, 2 inches).

FOR THE WOMEN
- Sophomore Kimberly Barber placed fourth in the 60-meter dash at 8.16 seconds. She also the third-best performance in both the long jump (16 feet, 7-3/4 inches) and triple jump (34 feet, 5 inches).
- Junior Isabelle Leon was fourth in the mile run at 2:22.99.
- Senior Brianna Wiles finished eighth in the 400-meter run at 1:02.14.
- The distance medley relay team of Leon, Wiles, Zoe Feighner and Jessica Taylor, and 4x400-meter relay quartet of Barber, Leon, Michaela Kaliniak and Wiles were both sixth at 13:55.42 and 4:22.56, respectively.
- Kaliniak finished fourth in the pole vault, clearing the bar at a school-record mark of 10 feet.
