Indoor track & field teams open season at SVSU Classic
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track & field teams kicked-off their 2017 seasons by participating in the Saginaw Valley State University Classic inside the SVSU Fieldhouse in University Center.

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's track & field teams kicked-off their 2017 seasons by participating in the Saginaw Valley State University Classic inside the SVSU Fieldhouse in University Center.
FOR THE MEN
- Senior Connor Bauserman led a 1-2 Comet finish in the mile run. His time was 4:22.97, while junior Bruce Baker was second in 4:23.45.
- In his first collegiate meet, freshman Noah Bailey won the long jump with a school-record leap of 22'2-1/4".
- Junior Mitchell Smith placed third in the weight throw (49'1-1/2") and fifth in the shot put (43'9-3/4"). Both marks were less than a foot off the school record distances.
FOR THE WOMEN
- Junior Isabelle Leon had the fifth-fastest time in the mile run at 5:31.46.
- In the field events, sophomore Kimberly Barber recorded the top finish by placing fourth in the long jump (15'7-3/4").
UP NEXT
- Olivet returns to the track next Saturday at the Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcat Invitational. Field events start at noon, followed by running events at 12:30 p.m.
