Track and field teams compete at Hillsdale Tune-Up
The Olivet College indoor track and field teams competed Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Hillsdale College Tune-Up.
HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Olivet College indoor track and field teams competed Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Hillsdale College Tune-Up.
For the men, junior Connor Bauserman placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.21. Junior Blake Wilson finished ninth in the mile run at 4:29.86. Bauserman andWilson, as well as Travon Tatum and Brad Thomas for a sixth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:45.83.
Despite an eighth-place finish in the shot put, senior Drew Miller broke the school record with a 43 feet, 1 inch throw. In the same event, freshman Ethan Brabant was 10th (39'9-3/4"). Sophomore Mitchell Smith was sixth in the weight throw with a 46 feet, 8 inch toss. FreshmanNicholas Yeck finished ninth in the long jump (18'9-3/4").
For the women, junior Allyson Schultz had a pair of top-10 performances. She finished fifth in the mile run in a school-record time of 5:32.74 and seventh in the 800-meter run at 2:36.58. The 4x400-meter relay team of Lauren Easton, Zoe Feighner, Isabelle Leon and Brianna Wiles clocked-in with the fourth-fastest time at 4:37.50.
Freshman Madison Grace had her best toss in the shot put at 33 feet, 1-3/4 inches to place third. She was also 10th in the weight throw (38'3-1/4"). Freshman Kimberly Barber was sixth in the long jump (16'1-1/4") and eighth in the triple jump (37'7-1/4"). Sophomore Kaitlin Totten finished eighth in both the shot put (28'9-3/4") and weight throw (40'1/2").
The Comets will now turn their turn attention to the first-ever Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championships next Saturday, Feb. 27, at Trine (Ind.) University. Field events will start at 9:30 a.m., followed by running events at noon.
