Track and field student-athletes set personal-bests at Hillsdale “Wide Track” Classic
A select group of Olivet College indoor track and field student-athletes competed at the 2016 Hillsdale College “Wide Track” Classic Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5-6, at the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center in Hillsdale.
HILLSDALE, Mich. – A select group of Olivet College indoor track and field student-athletes competed at the 2016 Hillsdale College "Wide Track" Classic Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5-6, at the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center in Hillsdale.
The Comets had their most success in the 3,000-meter run. For the women, junior Allyson Schultz won her heat in the 3,000-meter run. Her time of 10:55.49 broke the school record and was almost 30 seconds faster than the runner-up finisher. Senior Danielle Marsh also a personal-best time in the event at 12:00.33.
The men's team had three of the top six finishers in the 3,000. Junior Blake Wilson crossed the line first at 9:04.36, sophomore Bruce Baker was fourth at 9:14.52 and freshman Mark Smith placed sixth at 9:22.32. All three times were personal-bests.
The Comets are back in action Friday, Feb. 12 at the Defiance (Ohio) College Invitational.
