Men’s track and field team places seventh at 123rd MIAA Field Day
The Olivet College men’s track and field team placed seventh at the 123rd Annual MIAA Field Day at Bahlke Field in Alma.
ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College men's track and field team placed seventh at the 123rd Annual Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day at Bahlke Field in Alma.
The Comets totaled 54 points, which was only five behind sixth-place Alma. Olivet picked-up 18 team points after junior Jalen Weaver (Albion) and freshman Connor Bauserman (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) finished 1-2 in the 800-meter run. Weaver crossed the line more than one second ahead of Bauserman at 1:55.81, while Bauserman edged the third-place runner by three-hundredths of a second at 1:56.96.
Individually, sophomore Travon Tatum (Battle Creek/Lakeview) scored 12 points for the Comets. He was second in the 100-meter dash (:11.05) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (:22.55).
Bauserman, Lumpkin,Weaver and junior Andrew Benkovsky (Eaton Rapids) teamed for a runner-up finish in the 4x400-meter relay, stopping the clock at 3:21.90. The 4x100-meter relay quartet of Tatum, Lumpkin, freshman Jourdyn Thompson (Lansing/Sexton) and senior Jordan Union (Jackson) finished in sixth-place (:44.35).
In today's field events, Prudden scored Olivet's only points, as he placed third in the high jump. He cleared the bar at 6 feet, 2-3/4 inches.
