Men’s track and field team in seventh-place after first day of MIAA Field Day
The Olivet College men’s track and field team is in seventh-place after the first day of the 123rd Annual MIAA Field Day at Bahlke Field in Alma.
ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College men's track and field team is in seventh-place after the first day of the 123rd Annual Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Day at Bahlke Field in Alma.
Sophomore Travon Tatum (Battle Creek/Lakeview) scored the Comets' only three points, as he placed sixth in the long jump with a 20 feet, 1/4 inch leap. On the track, he also had the second-fastest preliminary time in the 100-meter dash (:11.08) and sixth-fastest time in the 200-meter dash (:22.58).
Junior Jalen Weaver (Albion) and freshman Connor Bauserman (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) posted the top two times in the 800-meter run preliminaries. Weaver had the fastest time at 1:56.54, followed by Bauserman at 1:57.72. Freshman Darren Lumpkin (Pontiac/Oxford) will run in the finals of the 400-meter dash after recording the fifth-quickest time in the prelims (:51.84).
Tomorrow's field events start at 10 a.m., followed by running event finals at 1:30 p.m.
