Men’s track & field team places seventh at MIAA Jamboree
The Olivet College men’s outdoor track & field team placed seventh at the 2014 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree, held at Alma College’s Bahlke Field in Alma.
ALMA, Mich. – The Olivet College men's outdoor track & field team placed seventh at the 2014 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree, held at Alma College's Bahlke Field in Alma. The teams will reunite in Alma on May 1-2 for the 2014 MIAA Field Day.
The Comets totaled 193.5 points. Hope College edged Calvin for first-place by 18.5 points, 838.50-820. Sophomore Travon Tatum (Battle Creek/Lakeview) was Olivet's top finisher on the track, as he was fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.43 seconds. Junior Andrew Benkovsky (Eaton Rapids) scored eighth-place points in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:01.68.
Freshman DeQuarius Yore (Battle Creek/Lakeview) had the top mark in his flight, 36.01 meters, of the discus throw to place sixth overall. Junior Anthony Giordano (Livonia/Clarenceville) broke his own school-record mark in the hammer throw with a 38.69 meter toss.
Olivet will compete at the Grand Valley State University Invitational next Saturday, April 19.
