Olivet College’s Weaver qualifies for NCAA DIII National Championships
Olivet College junior Jalen Weaver will compete in the 800-meter run later Friday at the 2014 NCAA Division III National Indoor Track & Field Championships.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Olivet College junior Jalen Weaver (Albion) will compete in the 800-meter run later Friday at the 2014 NCAA Division III National Indoor Track & Field Championships, which is being hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University and at the Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb.
Weaver's time of 1:51.90 puts him as the No. 14 seed in the event. The prelims will be run at 4:05 p.m. CST Friday afternoon, with the top eight runners advancing to Saturday's final at 3:45 p.m. CST Weaver is the first Olivet College track and field athlete to qualify for the NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field Championships.
"I am very excited for Jalen," said Associate Head Men's Track & Field Coach Jeff Kavalunas. "He has worked very hard to progress to this point and qualify for the NCAA championships and also to represent Olivet College at the national level. This is the first step toward him accomplishing his athletic career goals."
