Men’s tennis team tripped up at Defiance
The Olivet College men’s tennis team was on the losing end of a 5-2 score to Defiance (Ohio) College in a non-conference match this afternoon at the George M. Smart Center in Defiance, Ohio.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Olivet College men's tennis team was on the losing end of a 5-2 score to Defiance (Ohio) College in a non-conference match this afternoon at the George M. Smart Center in Defiance, Ohio.

Records: Olivet 1-5 overall, Defiance 2-5 overall
- Both teams had only five players, so there were only two doubles matches and five singles matches.
- The Comets' two team points came in singles play.
- Junior Tyler Nobel rallied to win at No. 3 singles. After losing the first set on a tiebreaker, he blanked his opponent in the second set, 6-0. Nobel then won a match-tiebreaker, 10-8.
- Senior Austin Briggs won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4 singles.
- The Comets now open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play Thursday at Hope College, starting at 3 p.m. The match is a part of a tennis doubleheader, as the Olivet women are also playing Hope.
