Men’s tennis team edged by Albion, 5-4
The Olivet College men’s tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College this afternoon inside the Ungrodt Tennis Center in Albion.

ALBION, Mich. – The Olivet College men's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College this afternoon inside the Ungrodt Tennis Center in Albion.

Records: Olivet 2-9 overall, 0-3 MIAA; Albion 5-10 overall, 1-2 MIAA
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets won two of the three doubles flights.
- The Britons came back to win four of six singles flights to claim a come-from-behind victory. In addition, four of the flights needed three sets to determine the outcome, with Albion and Olivet each winning two.
FOR THE COMETS
- Sophomore Zachary Croze and freshman Drew Gilmer won an 8-5 pro-set at No. 1 doubles.
- The No. 3 doubles duo of junior Ben Morris and sophomore Tyler Nobel picked-up an 8-4 pro-set win.
- At No. 5 singles, Morris did not lose any games in the first set before his opponent won the second set 6-1. Morris took the deciding set, 6-3.
- At No. 6 singles, Nobel won the first set 7-5 before his opponent won the second set by a matching 7-5 score. Since the outcome of the match was decided, a super-tiebreaker decided the match. Nobel won it with a 10-6 score.
- The other flights decided in three sets were by Gilmer at the No. 2 slot and freshman Noah Bindschatel at the No. 3 slot.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS
- With today's result, Olivet almost snapped a long losing streak in MIAA play. The last time the Comets won a MIAA match was 1992 when they defeated Adrian College.

- The Comets wrap-up a busy stretch of four matches in five days Sunday when it hosts Adrian College at the Minges Creek Athletic Club in Battle Creek. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
