Swimming: Olivet sits sixth at MIAA Championship

HOLLAND, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's and women's swimming teams are in sixth-place after the second day of the 2024 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship at the Holland Aquatic Center.
- The 200-yard freestyle relay quartet of junior Mya Kinnunen, freshman Sophia Spahr, sophomore Kelsee Lawson and senior Erin Sanders placed sixth among A relays (1:55.20).
- The 400-yard medley relay team of Kinnunen, sophomore Bridgette Shroll, senior Jennifer Mann and freshman Sophia Spahr finished sixth among A relays (4:15.75).
- After the morning preliminaries, Mann swam a time trial in the 100-yard breaststroke and broke the school record with a time of 1:04.95.
- In the preliminaries, Olivet recorded three personal-best times:
- Lawson in the 500-yard freestyle (5:48.78)
- Kinnunen in the 50-yard freestyle (28.08)
- Sanders in the 200-yard individual medley (2:49.89)
- The 200-yard freestyle quartet of freshman Tyler Ball, senior Dylan Lyons, sophomore Matthew Brown and freshman Logan Weicht finished sixth among the A relays (1:32.38).
- The 400-yard medley team of Lyons, junior Landon Morgan, junior Treyton Gabrielson and junior Seth Kading, placed fifth among A relays (3:36.21).
- Achieving personal bests in the preliminaries were:
- Gabrielson in the 500-yard freestyle (4:56.50)
- Brown in the 500-yard freestyle (5:06.66)
- Weicht in the 50-yard freestyle (23.61)
- Sophomore Jack Pendell in the 50-yard freestyle (24.89)
- The third day of the MIAA Championship is tomorrow with preliminaries in the 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke, beginning at 10 a.m. The finals in these events along with the 200-yard medley relay will start at 5 p.m.
