Swimming & diving teams compete in 800-yard freestyle relay at MIAA Championships
The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams kicked-off the 2016 MIAA Championships by placing fifth and sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams kicked-off the 2016 MIAA Championships by placing fifth and sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The other events held tonight were exhibition and do not count towards the team scores.
For the men, the quartet of freshmen Kody Garcia, Derek Melinsky and Bryan Plesner, and senior Taylor Howard clocked-in at 7:37.22. For the women, the team of freshmen Sabrina Butler and Samantha Butler, and sophomores Emma Cole and Nicole Zerfas finished in 8:43.29.
Action from the Venema Aquatic Center in Grand Rapids continues tomorrow morning with preliminaries at 10 a.m., and finals at 5:30 p.m.
