Swimming & diving: Men in fifth, women in sixth after day 3 of MIAA Championships
The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams have wrapped-up their third day of competition at the 2015 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships.
HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams have wrapped-up their third day of competition at the 2015 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships. The men are in fifth-place with 126 points, while the women are sixth with 104 points. Defending MIAA champion Calvin sit on top of the men's and women's standings.
In the 400-yard individual medley, Trey Jennings won the consolation heat to place ninth overall. His time, 4:17.64, was a lifetime-best as well as the sixth-fastest in school history. Taylor Howard finished in 10th-place in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:00, which was 12/100ths slower than his career-best.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Howard, Jennings, Derek Beslock and Zach Gray placed sixth with a time of 1:42.58. Bryce Prudden scored 10th-place points, 368.95, in the three-meter diving.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Jazmin Johnson and Megan Dossey placed 10th and 16th, respectively at 1:59.85 and 2:03.23. During the prelims, Dossey recorded a career-best time of 2:02.67. Leah Lupu was 16th in the 100-yard butterfly at a life-time best mark of 1:10.54.
Johnson, Lupu, Emma Cole and Nicole Zerfas swam to a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:01.25.
Action at the championships concludes tomorrow with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m.
