Swimming & diving: Johnson places eighth in 50 freestyle at MIAA Championships
Day two is complete at the 2015 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships for the Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams.
HOLLAND, Mich. – Day two is complete at the 2015 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships for the Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams. Highlighting today's events was senior Jazmin Johnson who placed eighth in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.85 seconds. During the preliminaries, she recorded a lifetime-best time of 24.41 seconds, which is also the third-fastest mark in school history.
Emma Cole and Megan Dossey was 12th and 16th, respectively in the 500-yard freestyle. Cole posted a lifetime best and the sixth-fastest time in school history in the finals at 5:22.55, while Dossey's preliminary time of 5:29.38 was a career-best. The 200-yard freestyle relay quartet of Dossey, Johnson, Leah Lupu and Nicole Zerfas finished in sixth-place with a time of 1:45.21.
Taylor Howard won the consolation heat of the 200-yard individual medley for an overall ninth-place finish. His time of 1:57.27 was a lifetime best and the third-fastest in school history. Trey Jennings clocked-in with a lifetime-best time of 4:51.74 in the 500-yard freestyle to place tenth. The 200-yard freestyle team of Howard, Jennings, Derek Beslock and Zach Gray was fifth with a time of 1:32.04.
Action resumes tomorrow morning with preliminaries at 10 a.m. and finals starting at 5:30 p.m.
