Swimming & diving: Olivet ends dual meet schedule with losses to Albion
The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams capped the dual meet portion of its 2014-15 schedules with losses to Albion College tonight at the Dean Aquatic Center in Albion. The Comet men lost 123-58, while the women dropped a 124-77 decision to the Britons.
ALBION, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams capped the dual meet portion of its 2014-15 schedules with losses to Albion College tonight at the Dean Aquatic Center in Albion. The Comet men lost 123-58, while the women dropped a 124-77 decision to the Britons.
The men's team was led by junior Taylor Howard who won two individual events – the 50-yard freestyle in 23.48 seconds and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:03.88. Sophomore Derek Beslockplaced second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.22 seconds. Sophomore Zach Gray had the second-fastest and season-best time in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:33.39.
Sophomore Bryce Prudden posted the second-best scores in the diving events, recording 204.55 points on the one-meter board and 192.60 points on the three-meter board.
For the women, senior Jazmin Johnson took the top spot in both sprint freestyle events. She stopped the clock at 25.32 seconds in the 50 and 55.86 seconds in the 100. Freshman Emma Cole touched the wall first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:43.38. Junior Megan Dossey finished in second-place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.34.
Olivet now focuses on the 2015 MIAA Championships Wednesday through Saturday, Feb. 11-14 at the Holland Aquatic Center.
