Swimming & diving: Comets lose to Kalamazoo
The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams fell to Kalamazoo College in their first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) dual meets of the 2014-15 season.
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams fell to Kalamazoo College in their first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) dual meets of the 2014-15 season. The men lost to the Hornets, 225-32, while the women lost 222-34.
Three members of the women's team had highlight performances. Senior Jazmin Johnson placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.16 seconds. Senior Shana Bush was third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:28.89. Freshman Emma Cole finished third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:46.72.
For the men, junior Taylor Howard excelled in the breaststroke events. He won the 200 in 2:18.15 and then out-touched the Hornet swimmer for second-place in the 100 by .09 seconds, 1:03.58-1:03.67.
Olivet hosts Hope College next Saturday at 1 p.m.
