Swimming & diving: Olivet competes at MIAA Relays
The Olivet College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams kicked-off their 2014-15 seasons today by competing in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Relays at the Holland Aquatic Center.
HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming & diving teams kicked-off their 2014-15 seasons today by competing in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Relays at the Holland Aquatic Center. The meet also marked the head coaching debut for Shea Davisson.
Highlighting the meet for the women's team was the performance of senior Jazmin Johnson. She anchored the 200 medley relay with a 24.90 second freestyle split and then posted a 55.6 split in the 100 freestyle portion of the 500 progressive relay. Senior Shana Bush led off the 3x500 freestyle relay with a 5:46 split.
Sophomore Derek Beslock was impressive on the men's side. He started off the 200 freestyle relay with a 23.55 second split and anchored the 200 medley relay with a 23.18 freestyle split.
"These relays were not scored," said Davisson. "Overall, the teams did really well for only being four weeks into our season."
Olivet travels to Kalamazoo for a MIAA dual against the Hornets next Saturday, Oct. 25, starting at 1 p.m.
