OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's soccer team began its home schedule with a 4-1 loss to Bluffton (Ohio) University this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex.
- Final Score: Bluffton 4, Olivet 1
- Location: Cutler Athletic Complex; Olivet, Michigan
- Records: Olivet 0-1-1 overall, Bluffton 1-1-0 overall
- The Beavers led 2-0 behind goals in the seventh and ninth minutes. The second goal was a penalty kick after a handball in the box.
- Olivet cut its deficit in half in the 25th minute when freshman Ethan DeHeus converted a penalty kick when a teammate was fouled in the box.
- The Comets nearly scored the equalizer in the 32nd minute, be DeHeus' shot on a free kick sailed just over the cross bar.
- Bluffton stretched its lead back to two goals, 3-1, at the 31:37 mark.
- The Beavers ended the scoring in the 64th minute.
- For the game, Olivet totaled 10 shots, placing half on-frame.
- DeHeus, sophomore William Myrick and junior Zachary Stephan each recorded two shots.
- Both of Myrick's shots were on goal.
- Senior Carlos Santos made the start in goal. He faced eight shots and made one save in the first half.
- Freshman Nicholas Van Port Fleet finished the game in net and also had one save.
- Olivet is off until Saturday when it travels to play Earlham (Ind.) College at 12 p.m.
