RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Olivet College men's soccer team played on the road for the first time this season and dropped a 3-0 decision to Dominican University at the West Campus Field in River Forest, Ill.
The Stars scored their first goal in the 37th minute after a failed clearance by a Comet defender. The score stayed 1-0 at halftime. Dominican added another goal in the 10th minute of the second half and capped its scoring with around 22 minutes remaining in the game.
Olivet was limited to six shots, including three for freshman Alistair Law. The Comets' only shot-on-goal was by freshman Matthew Henderson. Senior Ryan Grashik allowed the three goals while facing 16 shots in 90 minutes of action.
"It was a tough loss," said head coach Dan Bulley. "We started brightly, and should have been awarded a penalty midway through the first half. Instead we go in a goal down at the half through a defensive mistake. The guys put the effort in during the second half but our legs were heavy after three tough games in six days."
Olivet travels to play Carthage (Wis.) College next Tuesday night at 8 p.m. EST.
