OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior Adam Wright (Southend, England/Walled Lake Western) is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Offensive Player of the Week for men's soccer. He is being honored for the first time this season and the second time in his career.
Wright scored three goals and assisted on another goal, as the Comets split two MIAA contests last week. He had two goals in a 4-3 loss to league leader Calvin College Oct. 1 at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. Wright followed that performance by scoring the tying goal and then assisting on the game-winning goal in a 2-1 overtime win over Hope College Oct. 5 at the Van Andel Stadium in Holland. For the season, he is tied for the team lead in points (10) and assists (4).
"Adam is very dangerous in the attack and as far as stats go it seems as though he has gotten off to a slow start to the season," said Olivet Head Coach Dan Bulley. "However, the work he has put in for the team has not gone unnoticed. Adam got his rewards in these two past games and has opened the door for many more goals and assists to come this season. I could not be happier for the lad."
Olivet will make the trip down I-69 Wednesday afternoon to play at Trine (Ind.) University. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
