Men’s soccer team loses to Albion, 3-1

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's soccer team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College, 3-1, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Britons jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two goals in the first 10 minutes and 55 seconds of the game. The Comets trimmed their deficit in half when freshman Corey Shean (Mattawan) headed the ball into the net for his first collegiate goal. Sophomore Zach Piotrowski (Jackson/Lumen Christi) earned the assist. Albion got the two goal advantage back with a goal in the 41st minute. There was no scoring in the second half.
Olivet finished the game with just seven shots, including two each for freshman Esteban Russell (DeWitt) and sophomore Adam Wright (South End, England/Walled Lake Western). Freshman Alex Lang (West Bloomfield/Detroit Catholic Central) started in goal and played the entire first half. He faced six shots and made two saves. Fellow freshman Matt Van Houten (Northville) finished the game in net. He also faced six shots and collected three saves.
The Comets will return to action Wednesday, Oct. 19, when they host Alma College at 4 p.m.
