Men’s soccer team comes up short against Adrian, 2-1

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College men's soccer team closed the first half of its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) schedule with a tough 2-1 loss against Adrian College today at Performance Stadium in Adrian.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute. The score stayed 1-0 until seven minutes into the second half when junior captain Cole Dehen (Kentwood/East Kentwood) scored from close range after receiving a pass from freshman Esteban Russell (DeWitt). Adrian scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 64th minute when a shot from 20 yards glanced off the left post and into the net.
The Bulldogs had a 15-13 advantage in total shots, but the Comets had an 8-6 edge in shots-on-goal. Russell topped Olivet with three shots, followed by Dehen with two and eight others with one shot apiece. Freshman Alex Lang (West Bloomfield/Detroit Catholic Central) was the losing keeper, as he made four saves and played the entire game.
The Comets will travel to play Kalamazoo College next Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 4 p.m.
