OLIVET, Mich. -- The Olivet College men's soccer team fell to Adrian College, 2-1, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Bulldogs led 1-0 at halftime behind a goal in the 27th minute when an Olivet defender knocked the ball into its own goal. The Comets scored the equalizer at the 67:30 mark on freshman Daniel Hampsten's (Plainwell) goal off a corner kick by freshman Fred Smyser (Grand Rapids/ Forest Hills Eastern). Adrian tallied the game-winning goal less than 10 minutes later at the 76:19 mark.
For the game, Olivet had seven shots, including three for Hampsten and two for Smyser. In net, senior Ethan Felsing (Mason) stopped three Bulldog shots.
"We have to be disappointed with the result," said Olivet Head Coach Chad Wiseman. "Our inexperience showed a little bit today and had some bad breaks. We now have to turn our focus to Tuesday."
On Tuesday night, Olivet will travel to play Hope College at 7 p.m.
