OLIVET, Mich. -- The Olivet College men's soccer team closed out its season with a 2-0 loss against Hope College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. With the win, Hope shares the 2010 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship and earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships.
The Flying Dutchmen scored their first goal 10:24 into the game, and then added an insurance tally in the 82nd minute. For the game, Olivet was limited to six shots, including two each for senior Mike May (Mason) and freshman Adam Wright (Wixom/Walled Lake Western). In goal, senior Ethan Felsing (Mason) faced 15 shots, six on-goal, and made four saves.
The Comets end their season with a 13-7-1 overall record, including a 7-6-1 mark against MIAA opponents. Olivet has now posted three straight winning seasons for the first time in school history.
