OLIVET, Mich. -- The Olivet College men's soccer team began the second half of its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with a tough 2-0 loss against Kalamazoo College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The game was scoreless until 2 minutes, 8 seconds left in the game when Kalamazoo's Dane Carey scored the first goal of the game. Carey added another goal with one minute remaining.
The Comets finished the game with nine shots. Junior Chase Anthes (Ludington) along with freshmen Alex Alvarez (Eastpointe/East Detroit), Daniel Hampsten (Plainwell) and Fred Smyser (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Eastern) each recorded a pair of shots. Senior Ethan Felsing (Mason) stopped three Hornet shots.
"As a coach, I have to be disappointed with today's result," said Olivet Head Coach Chad Wiseman. "We've played Kalamazoo twice and lost both times. We just now have to get re-organized and turn our focus on Albion next week. We still have a lot to play for this season."
Olivet will play two road contests next week, beginning Wednesday against Albion College at 4 p.m.
