Minaudo notches 200th career point in men’s lacrosse team’s 19-3 win over Kalamazoo
Olivet College senior Nino Minaudo scored his 200th career point and became the career leader in assists, as the Comets easily beat Kalamazoo College, 19-3, in a MIAA men’s lacrosse contest tonight at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. In addition, senior Charlie Haesler had six caused turnovers to give him 37 in 2017 to break the single-season school record.

Haesler breaks single-season record for caused turnovers
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior Nino Minaudo scored his 200th career point and became the career leader in assists, as the Comets easily beat Kalamazoo College, 19-3, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) men's lacrosse contest tonight at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. In addition, senior Charlie Haesler had six caused turnovers to give him 37 in 2017 to break the single-season school record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter behind two goals by sophomore Logan Krieger and one each by freshmen Trevor Bailey and Jake Kovalcik, senior Tyler Polendo and sophomore Zach Sanders.
- Sophomore Bryce Drew netted a goal 54 seconds into the second quarter to put Olivet up 7-0.
- After the Hornets scored at the 12:04 mark, Minaudo scored the final three goals of the quarter for a 10-1 Comet lead at halftime.
- Olivet out-scored Kalamazoo, 6-0, in the third quarter to take a 16-1 lead into the fourth quarter.
- The Comets continued their run by scoring three straight goals to open the final period.
- The Hornets scored the final two goals of the game.
FOR THE COMETS
- Krieger finished the game with a team-leading eight points on four goals and four assists.
- Minaudo had three goals and three assists for six points.
- Polendo tallied five goals along with a team-best six shots-on-goal.
- Krieger, Minaudo and Polendo each posted nine shots.
- Kovalcik also had five points (one goal and four assists) and won 13-of-21 face-offs.
- Bailey, Drew and Sanders recorded three points apiece. Bailey had three goals, Drew had one goal and two assists, and Sanders had two goals and one assist.
- Charlie Haesler topped the defense with six caused turnovers and 11 ground balls.
- Junior Cullen Haesler registered five caused turnovers.
- In the cage, senior Drew Radners allowed the three goals and collected six saves.
FOR THE HORNETS
- As a team, Kalamazoo took 19 shots compared to 45 for the Comets.
- Harrison Ramsey scored two of the three Hornet goals.
- Doug Shipp had the third goal.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Entering the game, opponents had averaged 8.90 goals against the Hornets. Olivet exceeded that total in 30 minutes of play.
- Minaudo is the second player in school history to tally 200 points. The other was Dakota Badder who is the all-time leader with 218 points.
- Minaudo passed Badder for the all-time lead in assists. Minaudo now has 84 helpers, while Badder had 82.
- Minaudo's 116 career goals moves him into third on the career ledger.
- Charlie Haesler's six caused turnovers also ties for the second-most in a game in school history.
