Olivet College’s Bazin and Borek earn All-MIAA honors in men’s lacrosse
Olivet College sophomore Cameron Bazin (Troy/Athens) and senior Kyle Borek (Lansing/Holt) have earned 2014 All-MIAA second-team honors for men's lacrosse.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College sophomore Cameron Bazin (Troy/Athens) and senior Kyle Borek (Lansing/Holt) have earned 2014 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) second-team honors for men's lacrosse. All-league honors are based on a player's statistics during the six-game conference schedule.
Bazin ranked among the MIAA leaders in goals per game (tied for fifth, 3.17), points per game (eighth, 3.83), ground balls per game (fourth, 5.67), shots per game (tied for first, 10.17) and man-up goals (tied for third, four). Borek started five games on defense for the Comets, recording 12 caused turnovers and scooping up 20 ground balls.
For Olivet's entire 17-game schedule, Bazin started in 16 games and led the Comets in almost every offensive statistical category, including goals (45), points (62), shots attempted (162), shots on goal (91) and ground balls (108). Borek started in 15-of-16 games played, topping the team with 29 caused turnovers.
Under the leadership of head coach Adam Hague, Olivet had a 9-8 overall record and shared third-place in the MIAA standings with a 3-3 record. In addition, the Comets advanced to the MIAA Tournament semifinals for the first time in school history.
