Men’s lacrosse team suffers 15-5 loss to Adrian
The Olivet College men’s lacrosse team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) co-leader Adrian College, 15-5, tonight at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College men's lacrosse team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) co-leader Adrian College, 15-5, tonight at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Bulldogs scored the first six goals of the game, including the final three in an 83-second span, to take a 6-0 lead. The Comets got on the scoreboard with 2:52 left in the opening quarter when sophomore James Collins (Ada/Lowell) scored off a pass from sophomore Dakota Badder (Troy/Athens).
Adrian netted seven straight goals in the second quarter to gain a commanding 13-1 lead. Sophomore Jack Ranson (Nobleton, Ontario/St. Michael's) tallied an unassisted goal with 1:05 left before halftime. The Bulldogs led 13-2 at the break.
Badder scored the first goal of the third quarter off a feed from freshman Shane Prunty (Beaverton, Oregon/Southridge). Sixteen seconds separated two Adrian goals at the end of the third stanza to make the score 15-3. The Comets scored the only two goals of the fourth quarter. Sophomore Cameron Bazin (Troy/Athens) had the first one, while freshman Tyler Polendo (Battle Creek/Lakeview) had the second, with an assist from Ranson.
For the game, Olivet recorded 27 total shots, placing 15 on-cage. Bazin led the way with nine shots, while he and freshman Curtis French (Carleton/Airport) each scooped five ground balls. Ranson and Badder had one goal and one assist for two points apiece. Bazin, Collins and Polendo each scored once, and Prunty had an assist. In goal, junior Ryan McGee (Traverse City/Central) faced 43 shots and made 11 saves.
The Comets are now off until Saturday, April 26, when they host Calvin College in their final MIAA game of the season. Game time is 1 p.m.
