Men’s lacrosse team defeats Hope, 18-13
Olivet College defeated Hope College, 18-13, in a MIAA men’s lacrosse contest tonight at Van Andel Stadium in Holland
HOLLAND, Mich. – Olivet College defeated Hope College, 18-13, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) men's lacrosse contest tonight at Van Andel Stadium in Holland.
The Flying Dutch led 3-2 after one quarter of play. The Comets out-scored them, 5-2, in the second quarter to take a 7-5 halftime lead. Hope scored three of the first five goals of the third stanza to trail by one, 9-8, with 8:30 left. Olivet netted four of the final five goals of the third quarter to take a 13-9 lead entering the final period. The Comets tallied five of the nine goals in the fourth quarter for the final 18-13 score.
Sophomore Cameron Bazin (Troy/Athens) led Olivet with six points (five goals and one assist). Freshman Nino Minaudo (Rochester Hills/Stoney Creek) had five points (four goals and one assist). Sophomore Dakota Badder (Troy/Athens) recorded a team-high two assists to go along with three goals for five points.
Sophomore James Collins (Ada/Lowell) finished with two goals and one assist, while freshman Logan Krieger (Traverse City/Central) also had two goals. Between the pipes, junior Ryan McGee (Traverse City/Central) faced 30 shots and made 17 saves.
The Comets (8-6, 2-2 MIAA) will play their final two MIAA games of the season at home. The first game is next Tuesday, April 15 when Adrian College visits the Cutler Athletic Complex for a 7 p.m. contest. The second game is Saturday, April 26, against Calvin College at 1 p.m.
