Olivet College’s McGee tabbed MIAA Defensive Player of the Week
Olivet College junior goalkeeper Ryan McGee (Traverse City/Central) has been tabbed the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week for men’s lacrosse.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College junior goalkeeper Ryan McGee (Traverse City/Central) has been tabbed the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week for men's lacrosse.
McGee played all 180 minutes in goal and collected 42 saves in three games for a 65.6 save percentage last week, as the Comets posted a 2-1 record during its spring break trip. He made 18 saves on 23 shots in an 8-5 win March 12 at Randolph (Va.) College and followed that performance with 11 saves on 16 shots in a 12-5 victory March 15 at Methodist (N.C.) University.
For the season, McGee has a 60.3 save percentage, recording 70 saves on 214 shots. He has been in net for all except 18 minutes and 45 seconds of the 360 total minutes of game time.
McGee and the Comets return to the field Saturday when they host Beloit (Wis.) College. Game time at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet is 1 p.m. Olivet is looking to avenge an 11-10 loss to the Bucs from last season at Strong Stadium in Beloit, Wis.
