Men’s lacrosse team ends spring trip with 12-5 win at Methodist

In the first quarter, sophomore James Collins (Ada/Lowell) netted three of the six Comets goals. Also scoring were sophomore Cameron Bazin (Troy/Athens) and freshmen Kevin Bringhurst (Rochester Hills/Stoney Creek) and Shane Prunty (Beaverton, Ontario/Southridge) with one goal apiece.
Methodist scored two goals at the start of the second quarter. Olivet added a goal late in the period to lead 7-1 at halftime.
Bazin netted an unassisted tally at the 10:32 mark of the third quarter. The Monarchs scored twice in the third stanza to trail by four points, 8-4, after 45 minutes of play.
Four different Comets found the back of the goal in the fourth quarter. Scoring the goals were sophomore Jack Ranson (Nobleton, Ontario/St. Michael's), Collins, sophomore Dakota Badder (Troy/Athens) and freshman Logan Krieger (Traverse City/Central).
For the game, Olivet out-shot the Monarchs, 35-31, while the number of ground balls were equal for both teams with 40 apiece, and each team won 10 face-offs. Collins topped the team with five points (four goals and one assist). Bazin had four points (three goals and one assist) and a team-leading 11 shots. Badder finished with one goal and one assist for two points. In goal, junior Ryan McGee (Traverse City/Central) made 11 saves.
Olivet returns home to Michigan and will host Beloit (Wis.) College next Saturday, March 22, inside the Cutler Athletic Complex, starting at 1 p.m.
