Men’s lacrosse team defeats Randolph, 8-5
The Olivet College men’s lacrosse team defeated Randolph College, 8-5, tonight under the lights at WildCat Stadium in Randolph, Va.
LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Olivet College men's lacrosse team defeated Randolph College, 8-5, tonight under the lights at WildCat Stadium in Lynchburg, Va.
Olivet took a 1-0 lead when sophomore Cameron Bazin (Troy/Athens) netted an unassisted tally at the 13:38 mark of the first quarter. Randolph tied the game only 34 seconds later. Bazin added another goal with 3:11 left in the first stanza and sophomore James Collins (Lowell) scored with 5:29 left in the second quarter for a 3-1 Comet halftime lead.
The WildCats tied the game at 3-3 with two goals in a 50-second time span at the start of the third period. Sophomore Dakota Badder (Troy/Athens) scored off a pass from Bazin to put Olivet back ahead at the 6:32 mark of the third quarter. Randolph knotted the score at 4-4 one more time with 2:02 remaining in the third stanza.
Freshman Nino Minaudo (Rochester Hills/Stoney Creek) handed the lead back to the Comets with an unassisted goal, and they did not relinquish it for the rest of the game. In the final quarter, freshman Shane Prunty (Beaverton, Ontario/Southridge) scored once and Collins scored twice. The WildCats added a goal late in the game.
For the game, Bazin had two goals and one assist for three points. Minaudo also finished with three points, one goal and two assists. Collins scored three goals for his own three points. In goal, junior Ryan McGee (Traverse City/Central) played all 60 minutes, recording 18 saves on 50 Randolph shots.
The Comets (2-3) will be back in action Saturday morning for an 11 a.m. game at Methodist (N.C.) University.
