Men’s lacrosse team falls to Benedictine, 12-10
A fourth quarter rally came up short, as the Olivet College men’s lacrosse team lost 12-10 to Benedictine University this afternoon at The Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle, Illinois.
LISLE, Ill. – A fourth quarter rally came up short, as the Olivet College men's lacrosse team lost 12-10 to Benedictine University this afternoon at The Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle, Illinois.
Benedictine held a six-goal lead, 10-4, to start the final period. The Comets scored three straight goals to open the period to make the score 10-7. The Eagles answered with a pair of goals to go back up 12-7. Olivet ended the game by scoring three consecutive goals for the final 12-10 score.
Earlier in the game, Benedictine led by seven, 9-2, with 6:26 left in the third quarter. The Comets scored two of the final three goals of the period to trail by six entering the final quarter.
For the game, Olivet recorded 34 total shots to 40 shots for the Eagles. Benedictine placed 24 shots on-goal, while the Comets had 19 on-goal. Both teams committed 20 turnovers. One difference in the game was the Eagles were able to win four more face-offs, 24-20.
Sophomore Cameron Bazin (Troy/Athens) finished with five points (three goals and two assists), 10 shots and eight groundballs to lead Olivet. Sophomore Jack Ranson (Nobleton, Ontario/St. Michael's Catholic) collected a team-leading four goals on six shots. Sophomore James Collins (Lowell) also had four points, three goals and one assists.
Junior Ryan McGee (Traverse City/Central) played the entire game in between the pipes, collecting 12 saves.
The Comets travel to play Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University Monday afternoon at 4 p.m.
