OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College Athletic Director Heather Bateman is pleased to announce that the "interim" tag has been removed from men's lacrosse coach Adam Hague's title and Coach Hague will take over the men's lacrosse program full time.
"I have been very pleased with Adam's performance during the 2013 season," said Bateman. "He was thrust into a difficult situation earlier this year, but has done a superior job leading the team. We are certainly headed in the right direction with Adam as our head coach."
In its inaugural season as a varsity sport, Hague has led Olivet to a 9-7 overall record, with the season-finale to be played Saturday at DePauw (Ind.) University. The Comets narrowly missed qualifying for the four-team Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament.
"I am humbled to continue to lead the men's lacrosse program at Olivet," said Hague. "I would like to thank Heather Bateman for giving me this opportunity to continue coaching a great group of guys. I would also thank my two assistant coaches, Mike Malloy and Jorrit Grob, for their support and helping me out this year."
Hague earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Adrian College in 2012. At Adrian, he was a four-year letterwinner on the men's lacrosse team from 2008-11, and served as the team's captain for two seasons. Hague was a two-time All-Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC) selection, including first-team honoree in 2011. During his four years at Adrian, the Bulldogs won two MLC championships and advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championships in 2011.
A native of Marietta, Ga., Hague graduated from Pope High School, where he played four years of lacrosse for the Greyhounds.
