Bazin’s seven points lead men’s lacrosse team to 11-7 win over BW
Freshman Cameron Bazin scored a game-high seven points (six goals and one assist) to lead the Olivet College men’s lacrosse team to a 11-7 win over Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
OLIVET, Mich. – Freshman Cameron Bazin scored a game-high seven points (six goals and one assist) to lead the Olivet College men's lacrosse team to a 11-7 win over Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
The Yellow Jackets took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Luke Riemenschneider with 10:25 left in the opening quarter. The Comets ended the opening period with a 3-0 run on goals by Bazin and freshman Jack Ranson and Joseph Brown. BW scored once early in the second quarter to trim its deficit to 3-2.
Bazin answered with his second goal of the game at the 3:54 mark. After the Yellow Jackets scored another goal, Bazin found the back of the net with two goals in a 44 second span to give the Comets a 6-3 at halftime.
Olivet scored twice on goals by freshman Dakota Badder and Bazin in the third quarter to stretch its lead to 8-3. BW netted a goal with 4:21 left in the third before Badder scored at the 1:10 mark for a 9-4 Comet lead after three quarters.
The Yellow Jackets scored the first three goals in the final quarter of play to trail 9-7 with 8:38 remaining. Bazin and freshman James Collins scored two minutes apart for Olivet's final margin of victory.
Besides his seven points, Bazin also led the team with 12 shots and seven shots on-goal, and tied for the team lead with five ground balls. Badder contributed two goals and three assists. Collins and Ranson each scored once, while Arb had two assists.
In the net, freshman Ryan McGee allowed three goals while making eight saves. Seeing action for the first time this season, Hunter Teare made four saves.
The Comets are off until next Saturday, April 27, when they travel to play Calvin College at 3 p.m.
