Men’s golf team takes third at Ken Venturi Classic
The Olivet College men’s golf team placed third at the Ken Venturi Classic, played at Trine (Ind.) University’s Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Olivet College men's golf team placed third at the Ken Venturi Classic, played at Trine (Ind.) University's Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
THE BASICS
Location: Zollner Golf Course; Angola, Ind.
Format: Modified Ryder cup
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The modified Ryder cup format had the golfers play in pairs. The first six holes were scramble style, the next six were better ball and the final six were alternating shots.
- Each school had three pairs of golfers to come up with a team score.
- The Comets had a 214 team score.
- Trine took first-place with a 201 score, followed by Grace (Ind.) College in second at 212.
FOR THE COMETS
- Seniors Tanor Blowers and Joey Richmond teamed for a score of 71 strokes (23-22-26).
- Freshmen Jake Andrews and Ethan Sharp also posted a 71 (25-21-25).
- Freshman Nicholas Hoffman and sophomore Zach Sturgill finished one stroke behind at 72 (22-25-25).
UP NEXT
- The Comets are off until next Tuesday, Sept. 19, when they participate in the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association jamboree of the season at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian.
