Men’s golf team takes sixth-place at MIAA Jamboree #6
The Olivet College men’s golf team took sixth-place at the MIAA Jamboree #6 today hosted by Calvin College and played at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team took sixth-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #6 today hosted by Calvin College and played at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids.
The Comets posted a 327 team score to finish ahead of seventh-place Kalamazoo College, 330; and eighth-place Alma College, 353. Calvin captured first-place with a 296, followed by Trine (Ind.) University, 304; Hope College, 309; Adrian College, 314; and Albion College, 316. John Van Noord from Calvin had the low round of the day with a 71.
Junior Matt Sherry had Olivet's best round of the day with a 78, with a 42 on the front nine and 36 on the back nine. The 78 is a season-best for him. Sophomore Tanor Blowers was a stroke behind with a 79, including a 37 on the front nine. Senior Benjamin Hart carded an 81. Senior Jake Maas finished his round in 89 strokes. Sophomore Dylan Searle was in the lineup for the first time this season and registered a 104.
Over the next week, the Comets will participate in their final two league jamborees. The next one is Saturday at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian and the final one is next Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive.
