Men’s golf: Olivet finishes in sixth-place at Spring Arbor Invitational
The Olivet College men’s golf team finished in sixth-place at the 2015 Spring Arbor University Intercollegiate, played April 3-4 at the Cascades Golf Course in Jackson.
JACKSON, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team finished in sixth-place at the 2015 Spring Arbor University Intercollegiate, played April 3-4 at the Cascades Golf Course in Jackson.
After posting a 345 team score in Friday's first round, the Comets had a 346 in the second round for a two-day total of 691. The host Cougars won the team title with a 612 (304-308). Siena Heights University placed second at 619 (309-310), followed by Lourdes (Ohio) University, 644 (329-315); Cleary University, 646 (324-322); and Albion College, 652 (329-323).
Leading the way for Olivet was sophomore Matt Sherry with a two-round score of 160 strokes, which tied him for 12th-place in the player standings. His 75 in the second round tied for the third-best individual score in the round. Junior Benjamin Hart was next with a 171 (83-88). Sophomore Jacob VanDeusen had back-to-back 90s for a 180.
Senior Jake Maas also completed his two rounds in 180 strokes, including an 87 in the second round. Sophomore Zachary Gray and freshman Dylan Searle finished at 189 (96-93) and 196 (96-100), respectively.
The Comets are back on the course next Thursday, April 9, at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana, for the Trine (Ind.) University/Bill Gettig Invitational.
