Men’s golf: Comets card season-best team score at seventh jamboree
For the seventh time this season, the Olivet College men’s golf team has finished in seventh-place at a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). Today’s seventh jamboree of the 2014 season was played at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive.
WEST OLIVE, Mich. – For the seventh time this season, the Olivet College men's golf team has finished in seventh-place at a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). Today's seventh jamboree of the 2014 season was played at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive.
The Comets finished with a season-best 317 team score, which was only two strokes behind sixth-place Albion College. Trine (Ind.) University edged Hope College by one stroke, 293-294, for first-place. Calvin College was third at 302, followed by Kalamazoo College, 306; and Adrian College, 307. Behind Olivet was Alma with a 364.
Freshman Tanor Blowers shared 14th-place in the player standings with a five-over par 76. Junior Joseph Gauck and sophomore Matt Sherry both carded an 80. Junior Benjamin Hart finished with an 81. Freshman Alex Bialik completed his round in 105 strokes.
The Comets will host the final jamboree next Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. The jamboree has a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
