Men’s golf team claims seventh at Steven Tyler Intercollegiate
The Olivet College men’s golf team claimed seventh-place at the 2014 Steven Tyler Intercollegiate today at The Moors Golf Club in Portage.
PORTAGE, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team claimed seventh-place at the 2014 Steven Tyler Intercollegiate today at The Moors Golf Club in Portage.
The Comets carded a 341 team score, which placed them ahead of five other schools. Hope College won the team championship with a 315. Collin Breit from Hope was the tournament medalist with a three-over par 75.
Sophomore Benjamin Hart (Rockford/Lowell) posted Olivet's best score, as he completed his round in 79 strokes. Freshman Joseph Gauck (Belding/Lowell) shot an 84. Freshman Matt Sherry (Salem Twp./South Lyon) finished with a 43 on the front and back nines for an 86. Junior Jake Maas (Olivet) had a 92. Freshman Jacob VanDeusen (Clinton Twp./Clintondale) needed 109 strokes to complete the 18 holes.
The Comets will wrap-up their 2013-14 season Saturday at the Trine (Ind.) University/Bill Gettig Invitational, which will be played at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
