Men’s golf team places eighth at A.C. Eddy Invitational
The Olivet College men’s golf team placed eighth (of 11 teams) at the 2014 A.C. Eddy Invitational, hosted by Trine (Ind.) University and played at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
ANGOLA, Ind. – The Olivet College men's golf team placed eighth (of 11 teams) at the 2014 A.C. Eddy Invitational, hosted by Trine (Ind.) University and played at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
The Comets finished with a 308 team score, which ties for their second-best total of the 2013-14 season. Owens (Ohio) Community College took first place with a 277. The Express had the top three golfers in the individual standings with a pair of 68s and a 69. Trine was second at 293, followed by Madonna University in third at 294. Hope College, Indiana Tech and Rochester College all tied for fourth with 296s. Huntington (Ind.) University was seventh at 304.
Senior Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) shared ninth-place in the player standings with a 72. Freshman Matt Sherry (Salem Twp./South Lyon) was one stroke behind at 73, and sophomore Benjamin Hart (Rockford/Lowell) was a stroke behind him at 74. Freshman Zachary Gray (Utica/East Detroit) carded an 89, and junior Jake Maas (Olivet) completed his round in 96 strokes.
Olivet heads to Ohio this Saturday and Sunday to participate in the Denison University/Ted Barclay Invitational at the Granville Golf Course. Tee times on Saturday start at 11 a.m., and Sunday's round will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
