Men’s golf moves into tie for sixth-place in MIAA standings
The Olivet College men’s golf team placed sixth at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree #5 today at the Kalamazoo Country Club. The finish allowed the Comets to move into for sixth-place in the overall league standings.
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team placed sixth at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree #5 today at the Kalamazoo Country Club. The finish allowed the Comets to move into for sixth-place in the overall league standings.
In today's round, Trine took first-place with a 301. Calvin was the runner-up at 307 and Adrian was third at 310. Hope and Kalamazoo tied for fourth-place with 312s. Olivet was sixth at 315, followed by Albion, 320; and Alma, 326.
Sophomore Benjamin Hart (Rockford/Lowell) was part of a three-way tie for sixth in the player standings with a four-over-par 75, including birdies on holes 17 and 18. Freshman Daniel Buehler (Delton/Hastings) carded a 79. Senior Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Clintondale) had a 40 on the front and back nines for an 80. Freshman Matt Sherry (Salem Township/South Lyon East) posted an 81, including a 37 on the back nine. Freshman Joseph Gauck (Belding/Lowell) finished with an 88.
Calvin and Hope are tied for the lead in the seasonal standings with five-round totals of 1,538 strokes. Adrian is 10 strokes behind at 1,548. Trine is in striking distance at 1,551. Kalamazoo is fifth at 1,567. The Comets and Albion share sixth-place at 1,596 strokes. Alma is last at 1,609.
Olivet will travel to Angola, Ind., to participate in the next league jamboree Saturday afternoon, starting at 1 p.m.
