Men’s golf team ties for sixth at MIAA Jamboree #5
The Olivet College men’s golf team placed posted a season-best 305 team score, but it was only good enough to tie for sixth-place at the MIAA Jamboree #5 today at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
ANGOLA, Ind. – The Olivet College men's golf team placed posted a season-best 305 team score, but it was only good enough to tie for sixth-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #5 today at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
The Comets' 305 team score tied Albion College. The host Thunder took first at 288, followed by Hope 291, Adrian 294, Calvin 297 and Alma 302.
Junior Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) was part of a tie for seventh in the individual player standings with 36s on the front and back nines for a 72 total. Senior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) finished with a 77. Senior Cody Crites (Owosso) and junior Martin Holdren (New Bremen, Ohio) each carded a 78. Freshman Benjamin Hart (Rockford/Lowell) completed his round in 87 strokes.
Calvin continues to lead the overall MIAA standings with a five-round total of 1,510 strokes. Trine has a 10-stroke lead over Hope for second at 1,523-1,533. Adrian is not far behind at 1,542; followed by Alma 1,557; Albion 1,563; Olivet 1,575; and Kalamazoo 1,616.
The sixth (of eight) league jamboree will be played Saturday at the Pine River Country Club in Alma.
