Men’s golf team takes seventh at third MIAA Jamboree
The Olivet College men’s golf team took seventh-place at the third Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree today on its home course, the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Olivet College men's golf team took seventh-place at the third Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree today on its home course, the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
The Comets posted a 321 team score to finish 16 strokes ahead of eighth-place Kalamazoo College. Calvin College was first at 305, followed by Trine (Ind.) University at 307. Adrian and Hope tied for third at 311, while Albion and Alma shared fifth at 315. Calvin's Ben Kuiper was the medalist with an even par 71.
Olivet was led by junior Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley), who was part of a three-way tie for eighth-place in the player standings with a 77. Freshman Benjamin Hart (Rockford/Lowell) carded the best round of his short career at Olivet with a 79. Senior Cody Crites (Owosso) finished with an 82. Senior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) and junior Martin Holdren (New Bremen, Ohio) each needed 83 strokes to complete their round.
With its first-place finish, Calvin moves into first in the overall MIAA standings with a three-round total of 909 strokes. Trine is only two strokes behind at 911. Hope is third at 922, followed by Adrian 925; Albion 937; Olivet 939; Alma 940; and Kalamazoo 966.
The Comets will travel to Angola, Ind., to participate in the next MIAA Jamboree Saturday at Trine's Zollner Golf Course.
