The Olivet College men’s golf team sits in eighth-place after the first round of the Ted Barclay Invitational, hosted by Denison (Ohio) College and the Granville Country Club in Granville, Ohio. Tomorrow’s second round has a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start.
GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Olivet College men's golf team sits in eighth-place after the first round of the Ted Barclay Invitational, hosted by Denison (Ohio) College and the Granville Country Club in Granville, Ohio. Tomorrow's second round has a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The Comets carded a 330 team score and trail seventh-place College of Wooster (Ohio) by seven strokes. The host Big Red leads the 10-team field with a 304. Ohio Wesleyan is second at 307, followed by Point Park (Pa.) at 310, Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) 311, Muskingum (Ohio) 314 and Columbus (Ohio) State Community College 315.
Junior Ronnie Fesko (Henderson/Owosso) leads Olivet and is tied for 10th in the player standings with a 77. Junior Justin Ardelean (Owosso) has an 80. The Comets' next three golfers were each separated by one stroke -- freshman Tylar Blosfield (Valparaiso, Ind.) at 85, senior Cameron Sich (Saginaw/Frankenmuth) at 86 and junior Nick Julian (Clinton Twp./Chippewa Valley) at 87. Sophomore Martin Holdren (New Bremen) shot an 89.
Following tomorrow's round, Olivet returns to Michigan and will play in the Vic Cuiss Intercollegiate next Tuesday, April 10. The tournament is being hosted by Albion College at The Country Club of Jackson.
